The Lovereading4Kids comment
Here at Lovereading4kids we were really taken by this delightful picture book - it's the first we've seen that contains really helpful visual images (Widgit symbols) alongside key words in the story - which in turn will help young children to read and for older children with learning difficulties to read and understand. The title is beautifully illustrated and complements both the inspiring story and the all important Widgit symbols.
Note for parents and carers - Do you know about WIDGIT SYMBOLS? Not only do these symbols work with text to aid the process of learning to read, they are also great for children with special educational needs or learning difficulties. This is the first in the Sam and Hollie series and each one will feature Widgit symbols alongside key words in the text.

Puffin on the Beach A Story with Widgit Symbols by David Blakesley
Puffin on the Beach describes how Sam and Hollie’s plan to spend an afternoon rock pooling takes an unexpected turn when Sam thinks he has found a Penguin. Hollie is not so sure, and their father realises that the bird is actually a Puffin. Clearly in need of help,
the children rescue the Puffi n and we discover how the bird is eventually returned to the ocean.
Sam and Hollie books are the fi rst series of illustrated children’s story books which symbolise key words with Widgit Symbols.
