Julia Eccleshare's comment:
Fun to read aloud and fun as a very first book to read alone, This Is the Bear is tragic story of what happens to a much-loved teddy bear after he’s pushed into the dustbin by the dog. It’s a saga of a search through dustbins and even the dump itself before the triumphant recovery. Told in simple rhyming verse, it’s a treat on its own but the accompanying CD which includes the three sequels as ‘performed’ by Bill Oddie and Imelda Staunton among others, makes it irresistible.

The boy, the bear and the dog are the best of friends. But one day the bear gets lost and has to be searched for high and low. Join in the fun of this picture book and activity CD performed by an array of stars. The audio CD contains four story readings, games, songs, activities and music.

Reviews

"Its rhyming, repetitive language with easy-to-read speech bubbles makes it ideal." The Guardian
