Night frights! When Harry the Hog is woken in the night by a terrible noise he immediately calls up his best-friend Lin. What can be making such a scary noise? Harry and the little mouse Lil set about trying to find out. Is it Badger? Or Owl? Or Frog? Julia Copus’s rhyming text is deliciously scary as well as comforting.

The Hog, the Shrew and the Hullabaloo by Julia Copus

It was night in the village - a still, dark night - and Harry the Hog was sleeping tight. In her house at the foot of Piggyback Hill, also asleep, was Candy Stripe Lil.

In their second adventure, Harry and Lil must work out what on earth is making the Hullabaloo outside Harry’s window in the middle of the night. When deep sleeping Harry is woken by a strange noise, he calls on Lil for help. But every time they think they’ve cracked it, outside is a new nocturnal animal making a different sound. If it’s not just Frog, or just Badger, or just Owl, what could it be?
