The Lovereading4Kids comment

From the illustrator of 'The Gruffalo' comes this brilliantly observed story starring two best friends about the dramas of pre-school life - ideal for teaching toddlers how to share and say 'sorry'.

Synopsis

Pip and Posy: The Super Scooter by Axel Scheffler

Pip and Posy are typical toddlers: they are best friends and they have fun...but sometimes, just like any other toddler, they get cross and sad, so sometimes it takes friendship, sharing and understanding - and a cuddle - to make things better.

In Pip and Posy and the Super Scooter, Posy snatches Pip's scooter and tries to ride it, but she falls off and hurts her knee. Though Pip was very cross, he comes running to help her. Posy says sorry, and Pip forgives her before they all build a sandcastle in the sandpit where it's nice and soft.

Reviews

A sweet story of friendship and understanding written and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. Full of interest, bright colours and expressive faces, this is an ideal book to read to young children - As well as enjoying the story, children will like noticing all the extra details. And with its padded cover and sturdy binding it is a book that wil last as well as a story that will endure. The Scotsman

Full of lovely detail, this is a delightful story about being brave and taking turns. Booktrust

My three-year-old loves this reassuring series of the emotional highs and lows of toddler life - a great starting point for discussing issues like sharing and fears for young children. The Bookseller

Another wonderful story in the world of Pip and Posy! - I love how applicable this series is to young kiddos, specifically toddlers & preschool age children. In both of the books we've read thus far the characters are in everyday situations that have been, in our experience, things happening in their lives right now. There's A Book

About the Author

Axel Scheffler

Axel Scheffler was born in Hamburg, Germany. At school he was good at art, but didn't think of a career in illustration until he won a cuddly purple cow in a drawing competition. He moved to England in 1982 to learn English and study illustration at the Bath Academy of Art and then set up home in London. Axel illustrated a number of books for various publishers, and in 1993 he was suggested as the illustrator for Julia Donaldson's first picture book text, A Squash and a Squeeze. This was the start of a hugely successful partnership: their bestselling modern classic, The Gruffalo, has sold over three-and-a-half million copies worldwide, and the TV animation was broadcast on Christmas day 2009. Axel has illustrated a number of other highly successful books, including Muddle Farm, and his books have been translated into 42 languages. Axel lives in London with his partner and young daughter.
