Barkbelly by Cat Weatherill

An adventure story set in a beautifully realised world that's almost but not quite like our own. Presenting poetry, magic, and dark twists of fate, this story discovers what can happen when your dreams come true, but not in the way you expect.

This is a magical and moving debut.

A glorious book . . . beautiful and touching.

Fresh and inventive.

A startling fresh voice in children s books! Cat Weatherill is one of our great storytellers, vivacious and inventive.

A magical adventure . . . all these rich characters reflect real life but allow the reader to imagine the details for themselves.

This is a magical and moving debut. --The Times (U.K.)

Fresh and inventive. --The Children's Bookseller (U.K.)

-- Michael Morpurgo, Children's Laureate (U.K.)

About the Author

Cat Weatherill

Cat is a storyteller and writer. She is as old as her tongue and a little older than her teeth.

She was born and raised in Liverpool, where her grandmother saw an angel, her uncle fell off the Liver Building and her grandfather donated his shirt buttons to Beatles’ fans. Now she lives in Wales, a land of mist and magic.

After school, Cat studied Drama at Hull University, and she has been a professional performer ever since. She has worked as an actor and a singer, but she likes storytelling best. She became a professional storyteller in 1998.
