The Lovereading4Kids comment

As every parent knows, a good ‘night night, snuggle down’ book is invaluable, and Good Night Like This is a particularly lovely take on the theme. It’s night-time and the baby animals are being tucked into bed, half page flaps showing the yawning before, and then the fast-asleep after. The colour palette changes gradually from pinky-orange to warm reassuring purples as the pages turn, and there are sparkly stars twinkling on the last page. The rhyming text is a joy too: the cats are ‘snorey and furry, stretchy and purry’ while ducks are described as ‘tickly and feathery, in any old weathery’. ~ Andrea Reece

The perfect read-aloud for parents and babies to share at bedtime. The Bookseller Children's Buyer's Guide

About the Author

As a child, Mary Murphy was a constant reader. Her favourite books included Mary Poppins, Peter Pan and Tom’s Midnight Garden. She also loved any stories about animals. Mary was the third of six children.

Mary lives in Galway, Ireland, and describes herself as "fairly outdoorish, but not sporty". She loves walking, swimming, reading and cycling. Mary studied Illustration and Design in Dublin before freelancing as an illustrator. She has always written for pleasure, and soon began developing ideas for children’s books following the antics of characters she had already visualised. A technique she sometimes uses is to draw the character in different situations, and then see what follows on from there.
