The Lovereading4Kids comment
May 2016 Book of the Month In the hands of Rick Riordan, aka ‘Storyteller of the Gods’, Greek myths provide the starting points for the very best contemporary adventures. Apollo is star of this new series, though he’s not very godlike: he’s annoyed his father Zeus so much that he’s been sent to live as a mortal teenager in modern New York as punishment. Apollo is going to need help, lots of it, especially as he’s not short of enemies. As ever, there’s everything readers want – action, romance, great characters – all delivered in a racy narrative spiced with humour. There’s even a special appearance for the original Riordan hero Percy Jackson. Page-turning fiction doesn’t come better than this – it’s awesome!
For more books filled with action packed location shots and death defying stunts try The Blood Guard by Carter Roy, while there are more thrills sprinkled with some mythology in Sarwat Chadda’s Ash Mistry series. ~ Andrea Reece
Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan
How do you punish an immortal? By making him human.
After angering his father Zeus, the god Apollo is cast down from Olympus. Weak and disorientated, he lands in New York City as a regular teenage boy. Now, without his godly powers, the four-thousand-year-old deity must learn to survive in the modern world until he can somehow find a way to regain Zeus' favour. But Apollo has many enemies - gods, monsters and mortals who would love to see the former Olympian permanently destroyed. Apollo needs help, and he can think of only one place to go...an enclave of modern demigods known as Camp Half-Blood.
