The Lovereading4Kids comment
Molly Maybe is a great picture book character! A resident of the village of Smallsbury she’s got a monster world under her treehouse, and an amazing machine – the Mundervator – to take her there. In this adventure Molly and her faithful canine companion Waggy Burns have to go underground to the aid of some very frightened little monsters. Kristina Stephenson’s stories are always lively and inventive, and this provides a highly satisfying mix of thrills and humour. The monsters are very sweet and Molly herself is cheerful, competent and brave, the kind of little girl we’d all like as a friend. Waggy Burns, who can talk below ground, is fond of starting sentences with phrases such as ‘I’ll hazard a hound-like guess…’ and is a delight! ~ Andrea Reece
Molly Maybe and the Ghost Train by Kristina Stephenson
Molly Maybe has a marvellous secret - she and her faithful sidekick, Waggy Burns, are the only ones who can travel to an amazing monster world which mirrors our own. Take a ride in the incredible mundervator with Molly and help her solve a crisis in Undermunder. There's a terrible smell in Smallsbury but Molly knows that it's not the drains! She ventures down into Undermunder and discovers three little monsters, who can't stop pumping out pony smells in fear. They've lost their kite and too scared of the ghastly ghost, the Ghoulie Gumpus to get it back. Will Molly be able to show them there's nothing to be scared of? Or is the Ghoulie Gumpus just too ghastly?
