The Lovereading4Kids comment

Florence has frizzy, fuzz-ball hair, hair that is wild and sticks out everywhere. She complains about the way it gets in her face, or makes cuddle time with her little brother too tickly and prickly. But when the hairdresser straightens out her frizz, Florence suddenly realises how much she misses it, and how it’s an important part of who she is. This lively story delivers an important message as Florence realises it’s fine to be different, and that what makes us ‘us’ is always to be valued. The text is lots of fun and Florence is a bundle of lovable energy in Jane Massey’s very appealing illustrations. ~ Andrea Reece

Synopsis

Florence Frizzball by Claire Freedman

A funny, heart-warming sibling story from Claire Freedman, author of the bestselling Aliens Love Underpants series and picture books Oliver and Patch and The Great Snortle Hunt.

Florence's curly-whirly, wild and crazy hair couldn't be more different from her brother Ben's sleek and shiny do. She begs her mum to let a hairdresser try and tame it, but when she gets the restyle she's after, will Florence be happy with the outcome? Claire Freedman's rhyming text and Jane Massey's gorgeous illustrations perfectly combine to create laugh-out-loud moments and deliver an important message about being comfortable in your own skin.

About the Author

Claire Freedman

Claire Freedman lives on the Essex coast. She has worked for the BBC, Harrods and for a reprographic company and now writes full-time. She is the author of a number of books for children, including A Kiss Goodnight, Snuggle Up, Sleepy Ones and On This Special Night with Little Tiger Press. When not writing, Claire spends her time sailing, walking in the countryside and, when she can, travelling abroad.

Claire discovered her love of writing for children after joining a local writing group – which she still enjoys attending regularly. She began by writing stories and picture strips for comics including Twinkle, Pingu and Sesame Street, before trying her hand at picture books.
