The Lovereading comment:
Yet again the writer and the illustrator of the Winnie books have excelled themselves. Entertainment in bucket loads and brim full of humour as well. You’ll laugh yourself to sleep. If you enjoyed this then check out the other titles in the fantastic Winnie the Witch series: Winnie the Witch, Winnie's New Computer, Winnie Flies Again, Winnie's Magic Wand, Winnie in Winter, and Whizz Bang Winnie.
Synopsis
Winnie Flies Again by Valerie ThomasWinnie, the Witch loves travelling by broomstick. Sadly, when the sky starts filling up with all kinds of flying machines, Winnie and Wilbur have a few mid-air crashes and a few more near misses. Winnie tries a little magic to turn her broomstick into a bicycle, a skateboard, even a horse. But the accidents still happen. Perhaps, Winnie needs to look no further than the end of her nose for an answer to her problems...
Reviews
Paul's artwork is as dynamic and arresting as ever. His comic touch is perfectly judged, stretching the simple story within reach of a wide age group. TheGuardian

About The Author
Valerie Thomas was born in Melbourne, Australia, and has lived there for most of her life, apart from six years spent in Europe, where she worked in England, France and Norway. She is a teacher, and has taught in primary, secondary, and special schools in Australia and England as well as lecturing in English Teaching Method in a Teachers' College in Melbourne.
For many years she worked as an educational researcher and curriculum consultant in the area of spelling, and has written extensively on the subject. Her other main interest is travel. She has travelled to most corners of the world, and has written about her travels: the first piece of writing she had published was an account of her experience picking grapes for the champagne harvest in France. She is now trying to organise her life so that she never has to experience another Winter.
In 1987 her phenomenally successful children’s book Winnie the Witch, illustrated by Korky Paul, was published by Oxford University Press and won the Children’s Book of the Year Award. She used to live with a big black cat exactly like Wilbur.
