The Lovereading4Kids comment

March 2018 Debut of the Month

A huge story is packed into this striking and thoroughly involving picture book. Erik is one of the youngest members of his wolf pack and definitely the most reckless. He thinks his family’s rules are silly and one day, when no-one’s looking, stomps off to be a real lone wolf. He climbs higher, wobbles further and skies faster – right into disaster. Stuck at the bottom of an icy crevasse, Erik wishes for his wolf pack. Fortunately for him, they arrive to save him but Sara Finan’s painterly illustrations show readers just how dangerous and scary the snow and ice are, as well as how much safer and happier Erik is back with his loving family. ~ Andrea Reece

Erik the Lone Wolf by Sarah Finan

Everybody knows that wolves live in packs. But one little wolf cub dreams of setting off on his own adventure... all by himself! Will life as a lone wolf be everything he hoped, or will he miss the rough and tumble of the pack?

Picture Book of the Week 'The artwork is atmospheric, the hues of blue conveying the cold, the thick brush strokes which give texture to the wolves coats as well as movement to their surroundings... a strong debut from Finan, who is an illustrator to watch.' * Library Mice * 'wonderfully evocative' * Parents in Touch * 'Children will love the adorable and impressionistic illustrations of Erik exploring the snow-capped mountains in his little red scarf. A howling success full of fun, family and teamwork.' * South Wales Evening Post * Book of the Week 'An impressively strong debut from Sarah, full of wintry wonder and a strong moral heart. It's howlingly good stuff!' * Read it Daddy *
