The Lovereading comment:

A delightfully funny tale that parents and toddlers can enjoy together from a young age just as much as 5-7 year olds will enjoy it reading alone.  The illustrations are stunning and complement the humorous text brilliantly.  Rest-assured children will be very participatory in the story and what’s more there’s a complete and unabridged CD to go with it – so those car journeys can be full of the characters in The Gigantic Turnip too.

Synopsis

Reviews

'The Gigantic Turnip is an old, old tale, but this new version has to be one of the best ever... Rhythmical, funny and perfectly paced'
The Guardian

About The Author

Alexei Tolstoy and Niamh Sharkey

Aleksei Tolstoy (1883-1945) was born and lived in Russia. During his four-decade literary career, he witnessed milestone historic events, both in his home country of Russia and abroad. He was a master storyteller, and wrote several children's tales as well as poems, plays and stories for adults.

Niamh Sharkey works in oils on textured background to create the richness that has quickly established her as a world-class illustrator. She graduated from the College of Marketing and Design, Dublin in 1994.

In 1999, Niamh received the Bisto Book of the year award, presented by Children’s Books Ireland for Tales of Wisdom and Wonder.
