The Lovereading4Kids comment

This is terrific page-turning fiction, that will give you some vivid images of Victorian life and the extraordinary characters, both good and bad that dwell in it as well as a believable plot and written with great wit. This book is one of a series but no need to read the others to read this one as each title stands alone but with the same central character. Guaranteed to really engage the imagination of all types of reader and the short chapters add to the action, the suspense and the overall readability of the novel.

Montmorency's Revenge by Eleanor Updale

Dramatic historical events and action-packed adventure combine in Montmorency's most important mission yet. Montmorency is determined to hunt down the anarchist mastermind responsible for the shocking events at the end of book three. His search takes him to Italy, Paris and finally back to America, where Montmorency, his son Tom, and Fox-Selwyn's nephews become embroiled in an attempt to prevent the assassination of none other than the President of the United States.

About the Author

Eleanor Updale

Eleanor Updale on Eleanor Updale:
"I grew up in Camberwell in South London, half-way up a hill which had my primary school at the top, and my secondary school at the bottom. I had hardly ever been outside London when I left to go to Oxford University, where I studied history. After that I joined the BBC, working on TV and Radio programmes from 1975 to 1990. By that time I had two children, and soon there was a third. At one point they were all under three and a half years old, so I was very busy. I left my job to look after them, and got involved in all sorts of things I hadn’t had time for when I was working. You might be able to see how some of those things have crept into the books. I’ve been on the Clinical Ethics Committee at Great Ormond Street Hospital for some years now. I found lots of ideas for Doctor Farcett’s character there."
