The Lovereading4Kids comment

The first in a terrific new series likely to appeal to the 7 plus market. The storyline and the characters are wacky and witty and there are some terrific pictures by Philip Reeve. The characters are not to be missed. Urgum and the seat of flames is the next one in the series.

Synopsis

Urgum The Axeman by Kjartan Poskitt

Urgum the Axeman is the fiercest barbarian the Lost Desert has ever known. But one fateful day Urgum returns home to find that not only has his wife redecorated his cave and installed a bathroom, but she's also produced a ten-year-old daughter. And, as Urgum will find out, Little Molly is a barbarian babe with attitude.

About the Author

Kjartan Poskitt

Agatha Parrot says: 'So far I've written out most of the words in my spelling book. I've also filled about 12 numeracy books, 9 literacy books and once did a project about how the sun makes plants grow which Miss Barking gave me a gold star for. This book took me AGES though! Well I didn't exactly write it, I just talked and the old man typed it out, but it took almost the whole afternoon. It would have been quicker if he hadn't kept stopping to check if he'd got any emails, but he never had. (What a loser!)'

Kjartan Poskitt is the well-loved author of many hilarious books for children including Agatha Parrot and the Murderous Maths series, translated into over 30 languages. With a background in children’s television, he is a tireless and brilliant performer.
