The Lovereading comment:

It was with a thrill and eager anticipation that we at Lovereading4kids saw this fabulous new series of young fiction for children of 5+. Finding good books for those children moving on from picture books is always a tough call as there’s a real dearth of good publishing in this area. Winnie is already an established character in the world of picture books and Korky Paul is of course synonymous in the world of book illustration. Each title contains four complete crazily funny stories featuring Winnie, everyone’s favourite witch along with her supporting cast including her big black cat, Wilbur. There’s humour, slapstick and moments of real drama within each story. Pure magic.

If you enjoyed this then check out the other titles in the fantastic Winnie the Witch series: Whizz-bang Wizzie, and her latest adventure Winnie Says Cheese.

Synopsis

Mini Winnie by Laura Owen

Winnie the Witch is ready for anything life throws at her! In 'Winnie's Awful Auntie' Winnie and Wilbur have to deal with an unbearably fussy relative on an unexpected visit; in 'Winnie Gets Cleaning' Winnie offers her janitorial services to the local school with hilarious results; in 'Winnie and the Ghost in the Post' Winnie and Wilbur find themselves the surprise winners of a television poetry competition and in 'Mini Winnie' there's an unusual solution to a laundry problem. Four crazily funny stories featuring everyone's favourite witch, her big black cat, Wilbur, and a zany supporting cast of new characters. Korky Paul's exuberant black line illustrations complement the humour, slapstick, and moments of real drama that run through each story. Pure magic!

Reviews

[Praise for Winnie the Witch picture books]: Paul's artwork is as dynamic and arresting as ever. His comic touch is perfectly judged. The

About The Author

Winnie the Witch was created by Valerie Thomas and all the Winnie picture books are written by her and brilliantly and zanily illustrated by the incomparable Korky Paul.  The Winnie the Witch read aloud titles, perfect for those children just beginning to make the move from picture books to reading aloud or reading alone are written by Laura Owen and illustrated by Korky Paul.  Laura has had unrestricted access to the world of Winnie and Wilbur. She has discovered hitherto unknown details about the life and mishaps of everyone’s favourite witch. Winnie has let Laura into her home and talked to her frankly about the many adventures she has shared with Wilbur. In order for this bond of trust to continue between Winnie and Laura, Laura has chosen to keep her profile as low as possible so there's nothing more we can tell you.
