The Lovereading comment:
Cherub No. 10: This tremendously exciting series written by an author who has, through his writing been responsible for bringing more reluctant readers into reading than almost any other author, continues with its 10th title. It’s a fast moving action-packed thriller that will have the reader completely hooked from the outset. The plot is once again superb and the characters so well drawn and realistic that you even feel it could be you. It’s not essential to read these thrillers in order as they are stand alone novels in their own right, however once you’ve read one you’ll want to read them all anyway.A word from the author: In every CHERUB book up to now there's been a training exercise first and a mission at the end. The General flips that idea on its head, by starting off with James and the gang on two separate missions. Then everyone comes together for a training exercise at the end. Of course it's the climax of the book, so it has to be the biggest CHERUB training exercise ever!
Synopsis
The General. Part of the Cherub Series by Robert MuchamoreThe world's largest urban warfare training compound stands in the desert near Las Vegas. Forty British commandos are being hunted by an entire American battalion. But their commander has an ace up his sleeve: he plans to smuggle in ten CHERUB agents, and fight the best war game ever.
CHERUB agents have one crucial advantage: adults never suspect that kids are spying on them. For official purposes, these children do not exist.

He hates swimming and getting chased by cows. He was inspired to start writing by his nephews' complaints about the lack of anything for them to read! INTRODUCING ROBERT MUCHAMORE
Questions & Answers
Who is your favourite author/illustrator?
For kids books I would have to say Rene Goscinny. I loved the Asterix books and
the Little Nicholas series when I was a kid and read each one over and over.
Do you like healthy or fast food? Do you like to cook?
I quite enjoy cooking a special meal or something like that, but everyday cooking is a chore. My taste in food is quite low brow. If I go to a swanky restaurant I often find myself looking at all the fancy stuff on the menu and wishing I could just get steak and chips or a baked potato.
Are you good at sport? Do you enjoy watching, playing, supporting?
I started regularly going to Highbury when I was a teenager and I’m still a big Arsenal fan, but when it comes to playing sport I’m completely useless. I was always the kid who got picked last.
What do you like to do on the weekend?
My ideal weekend is just pottering around the house, looking at the newspapers, reading books, watching movies and listening to music.
If you had one magical power, what would it be?
I’m not really into magic, but I’d quite like a big laser. I could carry it around bookshops and threaten to melt the heads of anyone who leaves the shop without buying a CHERUB book. It would also be handy for parking attendants.
WHAT IS CHERUB?
CHERUB is a branch of British Intelligence. Cherubs are trained professionals, aged between ten and seventeen. They live on CHERUB campus, a secret facility hidden in the English countryside. For official purposes, these children do not exist.
WHAT USE ARE KIDS?
Only CHERUB agents can unearth the truth. They’re trained professionals with one essential advantage: adults never suspect that children are spying on them.
WHO ARE THEY?
There are about 300 children, mostly orphans on the CHERUB campus all training to become CHERUB agents. They are ranked according to the colour of T shirts they wear on campus. Lauren and James are brother and sister and are two of the leading CHERUB agents and have recently been awarded the Black T shirt in recognition of outstanding achievement over a number of missions.
