The Lovereading comment:
Young Reading: Series One. Three original high-seas stories for children just beginning to read. This level is perfect for children just starting to read confidently on their own. These are 48 pages in length with 1000-1500 words. They use fairly short, simple sentences and everyday vocabulary. Typically, these titles contain several short stories or one longer story divided into chapters. Fables, folk tales, history and contemporary fiction form the mainstay of this level.
Synopsis
Stories of Pirates by Russell PunterFind out if Charlie can get rid of his pesky parrot and Molly can escape the clutches of the sneaky Captain Spike in these swashbuckling stories.
About The Author
Russell’s earliest ambition was to become an artist, well third earliest actually, after dating Marie Osmond and becoming the first 9 year old to play the part of Doctor Who.
He subsequently spent 5 years at art college where he spent his time drawing cartoons and dozing off during art history lectures. All of which accounts for his handiness with a felt tip pen and inability to tell Monet from Manet.
He joined Usborne Publishing as a designer in 1987 but since discovering his literary side in 2003, he has written over twenty books for the company.
He loves writing for children and his biggest fan is his niece, although he’s not letting the fact that she’s not yet old enough to read bother him.
