The Lovereading4Kids comment

Winnie and Wilbur are up to all sorts of mischief yet again in this cackling good read that consists of four crazily funny stories. Winnie and Wilbur together with their equally zany friends are illustrated brilliantly and exuberantly by the wild and wacky Korky Paul. His black and white line illustrations complement the humour, slapstick and moments of real drama that run through each story. Pure magic!

A small number of children were lucky enough to be invited to read and review Mini Winnie which is the freader reviewsirst Winnie Young Fiction title. Here's a taster....'Each page of the book is crammed full of really cool jokes and Korky Paul’s illustrations are great, making me chuckle away for hours. It’s a fantastic book and I can’t wait to get hold of more of the series to see what Winnie gets up to.'....

Synopsis

Giddy-up, Winnie! by Laura Owen

Winnie the Witch has many talents! In 'Winnie's Wheels' she magics an old wreck of a car to take herself and Wilbur on holiday and demonstrates some rather unconventional driving skills; in 'Blooming Winnie' she summons the help of the ghost of Great Aunt Winifred in order to control a class of unruly children who have come to see her garden; in 'Winnie's Tea Party' Winnie is playing hostess and showing off her culinary repertoire to her oddball relatives; and in 'Giddy-Up, Winnie!' Winnie and Wilbur head for the local race meeting on a homemade hobby horse - with hilarious results. Four crazily funny stories featuring everyone's favourite witch, her big black cat, Wilbur, and a supporting cast of zany new characters. Korky Paul's exuberant black line illustrations complement the humour, slapstick, and moments of real drama that run through each story. Pure magic!

Reviews

Oxford's brand-new series of Winnie the Witch young fiction ... is bound to be a winner. The Bookseller

About the Author

Winnie the Witch was created by Valerie Thomas and all the Winnie picture books are written by her and brilliantly and zanily illustrated by the incomparable Korky Paul. The Winnie the Witch read aloud titles, perfect for those children just beginning to make the move from picture books to reading aloud or reading alone are written by Laura Owen and illustrated by Korky Paul. Laura has had unrestricted access to the world of Winnie and Wilbur. She has discovered hitherto unknown details about the life and mishaps of everyone’s favourite witch. Winnie has let Laura into her home and talked to her frankly about the many adventures she has shared with Wilbur. In order for this bond of trust to continue between Winnie and Laura, Laura has chosen to keep her profile as low as possible so there's nothing more we can tell you.
