Docherty's Little Boat has recently been shortlisted for the prestigious Greenaway Medal so we thought we'd introduce to you an earlier title of his that is equally captivating. Join a delightful little boy when he decides he wants to go to the beach. But what's he going to take with him and how is he going to get there? Brilliant imagery with minimal text. It's a real treat.

About The Author
Thomas never thought he would end up writing stories. At school he wasn’t good at spelling and reading was a real struggle. Luckily his Mum and Dad read to him and took him to the library where he spent hours looking at Asterix books. Even so, it wasn’t until many years later, after he had been through school and Art College, that he wrote his first children’s book. It was called ‘Pip and the Lost Dream’ and it is published in Spain, Taiwan and South Africa. Now Thomas does most of his work in the UK and is based in Bristol, where he lives with his wife Helen and daughter Lucia. Whenever possible he likes to go along to schools and libraries to talk to the kids about his work and help them write and draw their own stories.
