The Lovereading4Kids comment
Set on a ranch high up in the Rocky Mountains, Mustang Mountain: Sky Horse tells the story of Becky who is sent up there from her city-home one holiday. She’s furious with her parents for dumping her but she soon finds that life on Mustang Mountain is anything but dull, particularly when she finds some great friends and a beautiful white horse that needs coaxing to safety by them.
There are so many pony-mad series around but some of them are distinctly dubious, with an uninspiring quality of writing as well as a notable lack of storyline. Then two brand new series emerge at once so we thought we should definitely tell you about them both. Thankfully, they are for different age groups, so for all those pony mad kids start them at 6 or 7 on Pippa Funnell’s Tilly’s Pony Tails and then progress them at 8 or 9+ on to the Mustang Mountain series.
Mustang Mountain: Sky Horse by Sharon Siamon
Meg and Alison find themselves fighting for survival as they spend the summer on the Rocky Mountain ranch. They battle an unexpected snowstorm, help a young pilot after his cargo plane crashes, and encounter a grizzly bear. It will take courage, but the girls must overcome their differences to save themselves.
