The Lovereading4Kids comment

She may have a famous author for a mother and worse she, Bathsheba features as the crime super-sleuth in the books, but in fact she’s never saved the world or solved any deadly mysteries, she’s never even gone to school, until now that is. Join Bathsheba as she goes to school for the first time in Year 8. It won’t be easy for someone who has a superstarry reputation to live up to. This is the second diary featuring Bathsheba. The first, Chips, Beans and Limousines introduced us to the famous Bathsheba Clarice de Trop, not quite the starlet, sleuth and superstar she pretended to be and the third one is Doughnuts, Dreams and Drama Queens

Synopsis

Socks, Shocks And Secrets: : The Spectacular Second Diary of Bathsheba Clarice de Trop! by Leila Rasheed

Bathsheba Clarice de Trop is going to school for the first time. The daughter of a world-famous novelist, she has had a pampered, home-tutored - and pretty lonely - lifestyle. But her larger-than-life personality means it's not that easy for her to fit in. And so she embarks on an investigation to catch the thief of the school computers.

About the Author

Leila Rasheed

Lila Rasheed: "I am half Bangladeshi and half English, was brought up in Libya and have lived in Belgium, Italy and Malaysia. I’ve always written prose, but began writing poetry relatively recently, following encouragement from David Morley and the teachers on the MA in Writing at Warwick. A number of my poems refer to ancient myth, which I see as a ‘neutral space’ because of its remoteness and universality, where questions of nationality, culture and parochial allegiance can be sidestepped in favour of ideas I find more meaningful. A selection of my poems is available in the Heaventree New Poets series. Other things I can do include: make tiramisu, order four bread rolls in Danish, and open a beer bottle with my teeth."

Her first novel was Chips, Beans and Limousines: The Fantastic Diary of Bathsheba Clarice De Trop! Followed by two further tales of Bathsheba, Socks, Shocks and Secrets and Doughnuts, Dreams and Drama Queens and a Young Adult novel called The World Turned Upside Down, which was commissioned by the Stratford Upon Avon Literary Festival.
