The Lovereading comment:
One minute Flora is dreaming on a train heading back to boarding school and the next a magic spell has spun Flora into the past. She’s mysteriously swapped lives with a schoolgirl in 1935! What a nightmare: no iPod, no mobile, no hair products and ridiculous rules. How will she survive? She has to speak French at breakfast, wear hideous baggy bloomers and sleep in a freezing dormitory. Flora also finds lots of positives in her new life but realises she must also find her way back to the 21st century and the reason for her time-travel. Full of magic and humour this wonderfully touching story will have girls desperate to join Flora on her time-travel escapades.
Synopsis
Beswitched by Kate SaundersWhen Flora Fox's parents send their daughter off to boarding school, they have no idea that the train will take her back to 1935. On the journey Flora has a strange dream. She wakes up without her laptop or her phone, wearing a hideous uniform with ridiculous bloomers underneath. She is a new girl at St Winifred's, where the rules are mad, the food horrible, and the hairiness of the teachers unbelievable. Her 21st century manners will not be tolerated at strict St Win's - how will she ever survive and find her way back to her own time? But there is a special reason why Flora has been summoned to the past. It involves the tempestuous girl who becomes her best friend, and will one day become her grandmother... Beswitched is a wonderfully funny, classic story from a popular and very talented children's author.
