The Lovereading4Kids comment

Friends and relationships are the hallmarks of Cathy’s novels as she portrays her characters and their friendships particularly well. The plot lines are easy to get into, there’s always a subliminal message too and in Angel Cake it’s don’t judge a book by its cover as first impressions aren’t always right. Yet again she doesn’t disappoint, Angel Cake is a cracking, fast-paced easy read for 9+ year olds.

Angel Cake by Cathy Cassidy

Anya used to dream of moving to Britain to start a brand-new life. But as she sits in a school where nobody understands her, she dreams of Polish summer skies and the place where she once belonged. Then Anya meets bad boy Dan. He's no angel, but she's sure there's a sweeter side to him. And when things begin to fall apart, Anya realizes she's not alone - how can Dan be such bad news when being with him feels like heaven?

Praise for Cathy's books: Touching, tender and unforgettable -- The Guardian Cathy Cassidy's insight into teenage thinking is pin-point sharp while her light tone makes [her stories] sing. -- Julia Eccleshare * * Angel Cake is awesome! It took three days to read and I loved it so much. I wish it could be made into a movie. -- Britt, age 13
