The Lovereading4Kids comment
Kindness works like a magic charm on the grumpy old Gruff, a growly, grizzly grump of a bear. When Gruff the Grump unexpectedly does something kind and rescues a rabbit stuck in a tree, the rabbit repays him by bringing him a fallen star. For each act of kindness the rabbit brings another star. Something is changing in Gruff. Soon he isn’t a Grump anymore.
Gruff is grumpy and all the other animals in the wood know that and keep away, but one little rabbit is determined to cheer him up through whatever means he can - and that includes being stuck up a tree, clinging to a log on the river and even knocking on Gruff's cave door. Wonderfully vibrant illustrations complement the lovely storyline, it’s sure to melt the hearts of both parent and child.
Gruff the Grump by Steve Smallman
Gruff was a bear. A great big, scowly, growly, grizzly grump of a bear. One morning, Gruff the Grump meets a little rabbit clinging to a branch, clutching a fallen star. The little rabbit is trying to rescue all the stars she keeps finding, and needs a big, kind friend like Gruff to help. Gruff doesn't want a friend but the rabbit is determined.
