Julia Eccleshare's comment:
The charmingly scatty and accident prone witch Winnie is back in this bumper book of three picture book stories. Winnie and her cat Wilbur have to see off a smoking dragon in Winnie’s Midnight Dragon and they have all the disasters and fun of a birthday celebration in Happy Birthday, Minnie! One of Minnie’s birthday presents is the flying carpet which takes both Winnie and Wilbur off on some not to be forgotten adventures. Winnie’s totally benign witchy world is delightfully funny and not to be missed.

Reviews
Paul's artwork is as dynamic and arresting as ever. His comic touch is perfectly judged, stretching the simple story within reach of a wide age group.Guardian
About The Author
Valerie Thomas was born in Melbourne, Australia, and has lived there for most of her life, apart from six years spent in Europe, where she worked in England, France and Norway. She is a teacher, and has taught in primary, secondary, and special schools in Australia and England as well as lecturing in English Teaching Method in a Teachers' College in Melbourne.
For many years she worked as an educational researcher and curriculum consultant in the area of spelling, and has written extensively on the subject. Her other main interest is travel. She has travelled to most corners of the world, and has written about her travels: the first piece of writing she had published was an account of her experience picking grapes for the champagne harvest in France. She is now trying to organise her life so that she never has to experience another Winter.
In 1987 her phenomenally successful children’s book Winnie the Witch, illustrated by Korky Paul, was published by Oxford University Press and won the Children’s Book of the Year Award. She used to live with a big black cat exactly like Wilbur.
