The Lovereading4Kids comment

Danger stalks this delicate romance from the bestselling author of Shiver and Linger. Love is far from straightforward for sixteen-year-old, talented musician Dee. The guy she falls for is beautiful and mysterious; he seems to know a lot about her and he seems to care for her – a lot. But Dee and Luke are both different. She is a clover-hand, a girl who can see faeries. Luke seems to understand but what Dee doesn’t know is that Luke is an assassin from the faerie world. Will Dee be able to save herself?

Sixteen-year-old Dee is a cloverhand - someone who can see faeries. So when she finds herself irresistibly drawn to beautiful, mysterious Luke, Dee knows that he wants something more dangerous than a summer romance. But Dee doesn't realize that Luke is an assassin from the faerie world. And she is his next target.

I just finished an advance copy of LAMENT: THE FAERIE QUEEN'S DECEPTION by debut author Maggie Stiefvater, which is smart, musical, romantic, and reinvents the faerie tradition. -- Cynthia Leitich Smith Author of TANTALIZE

About the Author

Maggie Stiefvater

Maggie Stiefvater is the New York Times bestselling author of the Shiver trilogy. There are more than 1.8 million copies of the Shiver trilogy in print. Linger, the second book in the trilogy, debuted at number one on the New York Times bestseller list. In addition to being a writer, Maggie used to street race (she owns a 1973 Camaro named Loki), plays the bagpipes and is an artist. She lives in Virginia with her family.

Maggie Stiefvater on Maggie Stiefvater:

All of my life decisions have been based around my inability to be gainfully employed. Talking to yourself, staring into space and coming to work in your pyjamas are frowned upon when you're a waitress, calligraphy instructor or technical editor (all of which I've tried), but are highly prized traits in novelists, musicians and artists (I've made my living as one of these since I was 22).

I now live an eccentric life in the middle of nowhere, Virginia, with my charmingly straight-laced husband, two small kids, two neurotic dogs, one criminally insane cat and a 1973 Camaro named Loki. I'm an avid reader, an award-winning coloured pencil artist and play several musical instruments, including the Celtic harp, the piano and the bagpipes. I also make great cocktail party conversation.
