The Lovereading comment:

Hippos may not be beautiful outside to many but they're certainly able to show their beauty from within and so begins a story about being beautiful inside - a joyous little treasure for the whole family to share.  Stylish and affordable books for children and parents alike.

One of an initial series of 13 titles in a wonderful collection under the banner of The World of Happy, each one of them featuring playful, charming, quirky, joyous and heart-warming stories about positive and uplifting values: love, happiness, freedom, pleasure, being yourself and revelling in the wonders of what it means to be alive and all written and illustrated by Giles Andreae, the creator of Purple Ronnie.

Children will love the funky, colourful animals and funny stories about belching sharks, dancing hippos, knitting gorillas and drumming crickets. Adults will appreciate the sophistication, quirkiness and philosophical content. World of Happy delivers something emotionally rich and complex while being easily accessible to children.

The World of Happy books are a great value addition to any nursery bookshelf which kids will enjoy time and time again.

Synopsis

The Dance of Wallowy Bigness (World of Happy) by Giles Andreae

There was once a hippopotamus who dreamed of being able to dance with grace and beauty. However, when she tried, she could barely lift her bottom off the ground and her stomach wobbled most uncomfortably indeed. 'It's just not fair', said the hippopotamus, and she began to weep. 'Come now', said a passing crocodile. 'Perhaps you are simply trying the wrong dance. What kind of dance would be your dance...and your dance only'?
