The Lovereading comment:
Write Stuff! is a new and exciting creative writing journal for kids that want to write and to encourage more reluctant writers to pick up a pen. Both this edition for girls and the sister book for boys (click here) are aimed at children of about 7+ and are designed to develop a love of writing.
With plenty of structured cues throughout the book it introduces the importance of story planning - think of the characters, the setting and the time period for instance and progresses on to consider different types and styles of writing, such as writing crime fiction, thrillers and action and adventure stories.
It's full of ideas and suggestions for starting off a story too and there are even tips on how to write poetry, travel writing and articles for newspapers. So get those creative juices going and don't worry if you don't think you have any because this book will draw them out, we promise!

Reviews
Praise from Poppy Ella Massey (age 8):
I think it is good because it is fun to do! I really like where you write your own stories. The story ideas helped me think about what to write. The pictures were good and funny they helped me get story ideas. My best story was the one I wrote about a girl and her search for the perfect dress. Lilly needed a dress for a party and had the best time ever.
Erin Vrint (age 10):
I really loved this book with its colourful cover and fun illustrations. It was full of tips to help you write stories, including ideas for characters, settings and plot. I loved the way it gives you a starting point, and then you use your imagination to create a story of your own. It is easy to find your way around the book as the sections are marked with tabs, and you can turn straight to the part you want. The ideas for story titles were exciting and I especially liked the vocabulary section. There were lots of examples of different words to use – plus their meanings – to make my stories more interesting. I’m writing a story about a young girl who finds a puppy at the moment . . . I can’t wait to find out what happens in the end!
And Ella Filluzeau (age 11):
I really enjoyed working through Write Stuff. I found it extremely helpful and i loved doing every page. It has widened my range of vocabulary and I have discovered lots of new ways in which to start a story . The layout of the book and the colours made the book very enticing. I really loved this book!
