The Lovereading comment:
Elly, Tash, and Sierra are shipwrecked! A storm has ruined their whale-spotting adventure and now they're castaways, with only Mojo the dog for company and chocolate cake for lunch! Nobody knows where they are and the hours are slipping away... will the girls be spending a night under the stars on a deserted island?
Synopsis
The Flip-Flop Club : Whale Song by Ellen RichardsonStranded on an island, Elly, Tash, and Sierra put up a flag in the hope of being rescued. But they're not the only ones who need rescuing - the whales have swum too close to the beach and the calf is stuck in shallow water. While Sierra sings to it to keep it calm, Tash and Elly construct a raft to float the calf back to its anxious mother. As the reunited whales swim away, the girls sift through the driftwood that's been washed up by the storm. Why is there so much? Donning snorkels, the girls investigate, discovering a beautiful underwater world of starfish and coral. But the sun is sinking in the sky and they still haven't been rescued. If nobody knows where they are, will the girls have to spend a night under the stars - alone on a deserted island?

About The Author
Ellen Richardson grew up in Missouri, USA. Her long, hot summer holidays were full of barbeques, homemade ice cream, watermelon, and twilight evenings spent catching lightning bugs in order to let them go and watch them spiral into the air like sparks from a bonfire. All the time she was growing up, she longed to see the ocean, and finally did on a school trip when she was the same age as Elly, Tash, and Sierra.
Ellen now lives in England with her family, and every summer they spend time by the sea. Her love for British islands is a big part of the joy of writing the Flip-Flop Club books.
