The Lovereading4Kids comment

A must-have for all fans of Bob, the very much loved man in the moon, who is back for a brilliantly entertaining new adventure. Bob knows every inch of the moon which he looks after so carefully. Imagine his surprise when suddenly a beautiful new tree is growing right out of one of the craters! Bob does everything he can to keep the moon tree and its wonderful fruit safe from the moon visitors before he is swept away on a whirlwind adventure of his own. Bob gets bolder and more entertaining in every new story.

Bob and the Moon Tree Mystery by Simon Bartram

When Bob, the Man on the Moon, spots a strange seed bouncing along the surface of the Moon, little does he know that it will grow overnight into the first ever Moon tree! Earth tourists (especially the lumberjacks) come to try to get a piece of Moon tree, but Bob keeps them at bay (oblivious to the alien assistance he's getting). Only when things start to get really shocking (or should we say shaking?) do we discover the secret of the Moon tree - it's seeds are actually eggs, each one containing a baby alien!

Simon Bartram is one of the most talented picture book illustrators and authors working today. He realised very early on that he wanted to be an illustrator as he always loved drawing and was an avid consumer of comics. His first illustration was for Roy of the Rovers when he was eleven. He graduated from Birmingham Polytechnic with a first class degree in illustration in 1990, and his art style is heavily in uenced by artists such as Peter Blake, Stanley Spencer and Reg Cartwright. Simon has been shortlisted for several major illustration awards including The Mother Goose in 1999 and the Kate Greenaway Award twice.

This is what the Art Director at Templar, his publisher, has said about him:

'Simon is wonderfully bonkers, and as British as a mini pork pie. he is a unique voice in children's publishing and his books have a refreshingly 'real' heart and natural character. He's one of the best British illustrators in the universe!'

Simon is a mad keen football fan and supporter of Sunderland. He lives in
Newcastle with his wife Nicola and their son. Simon’s other books for Templar include: Pumpkin Moon, A Winter’s Tale, Dougal’s Deep-Sea Diary, The Alien Spotters Guide and Watch Out for Sprouts.
