The Lovereading4Kids comment

CHERUB fans will need to read this final chapter of the Henderson’s Boys sequence as it puts into place the final piece of the two-series whole. Set in 1944 with Germany desperate and so determined to win at all costs, Marc and his friends must take out a battalion of German tanks. It’s their most dangerous mission yet and Marc is fully focussed on it – or would be if it wasn’t for the arrival of a very attractive girl….Robert Muchmore will delight his readers with another fast-moving story.

Synopsis

Scorched Earth by Robert Muchamore

Summer, 1944. As Allied soldiers prepare to land in France, Marc and his friends must destroy a battalion of German tanks that could halt the invasion in its tracks. The tide of war has turned against the Nazis, but desperation has made them more brutal than ever. Henderson's Boys' final mission will be their most dangerous. With food and weapons in short supply, survival is the biggest challenge of all.

Reviews

'It has the feel of something quite big and satisfying... Muchamore's voice is fresh and direct.' - Daily Telegraph

Muchamore's plain, punchy, often funny style ... is highly effective... This clever, tense novel is a great way of getting bored boys interested in history. - Amanda Craig, The Times

This book was un-put-downable. It gripped me from start to finish, and was just as good as the CHERUB series, if not better! - Aaron, 14, First News

'Gripping and compelling' - Carousel

Robert Muchamore was born in Islington in 1972. As a teenager he dreamt of either becoming an architect, a photographer or a writer. On discovering that architects have to train for seven years and after quitting his Saturday job in a camera shop, he saved up enough money to buy a word processor and set his heart on writing. The only problem was, he didn't know what to write. So, he found a regular job and spent thirteen years as a private investigator.

Robert grew up listening to mix tapes sent to him by his older brother, developing tastes for indie bands like Joy Division, The Pogues and The Smiths. The idea for Rock War came from seeing that many of Robert's fans turned up at book signings wearing the logos of long dead rock bands, and a realisation that his online fan forum had more kids talking about the X-Factor than about his books.
