The Lovereading4Kids comment
A rip-roaring read for 7+ readers with a definite nod to the ‘readalong’ parent with chapter headings such as Tomb it may Concern, Fly me to the Goons and Stake and Flips! Tich and his mates are a bunch of misfits and odd-bods but together they form a gang which - despite their inadequacies - find themselves caught up in a time-travelling adventure to Transylvania to destroy the evil Dracula and prevent vampires from taking over their school. Full of zany humour and bizarre events, the author mixes fantasy with reality in a way that really engages children’s imaginations; what boy (or girl) wouldn’t enjoy a tale where his teachers become blood-sucking fiends and only the motley crew of Tich’s gang can sort it out?
Tich Vampire Hunter by Pete Barrett
Everyone is turning into a vampire!
Life is as boring as ever. Tich and his gang mess about in the local graveyard. Maybe there’ll be ghoulies and ghosties! Instead they stumble on a strange grave whose occupant just won’t lie down! The school is taken over by vampires. All the teachers are turning into blood-sucking fiends. Only Tich and his gang can sort it out: can they get to Transylvania – fast - for help? But there they’ll have to face the evil Dracula himself!
