The Lovereading4Kids comment

A sophisticated story with an important message lies at the heart of this deliciously entertaining book. The animals on Mr Tanner’s farm are in revolt against their farmer’s disgusting behaviour; he pollutes the water, cuts down the trees, and makes the animals live in a crumbling barn. Luckily, they come up with what seems like a very clever plan…When things go wrong, all looks hopeless until Mr Tanner himself does a very stupid thing. Soon he is up, up and away and the animals can live happily ever after!

Synopsis

We Have Lift-off! by Sean Taylor

Mr Tanner the farmer pollutes his farm and mistreats his animals, leading the animals to stage a rebellion. They build an intergalactic space rocket to take them up into the clean, clear skies, far away from PEOPLE. First a chicken, then a clever rabbit, and lastly a calm sheep, are chosen for test flights. But each time something goes wrong and the rocket returns to Earth. The animals don't know what to do. But then Farmer Tanner discovers the rocket...Determined to take it for himself, he zooms off into space, and is never seen again. The message is clear - look after each other and the planet, or it will be your turn next in the rocket...!

.' 'A marvellously bright and funny picture book featuring farm animals and an intergalactic space rocket!' 'This lovely picture book by Sean Taylor and Hannah Shaw has lots of appealing factors for young readers - animals, a space rocket and a good dose of humour. In addition, there's a strong environmental message.

s a message here, of course, but it

s cartoon illustrations follow the pattern of Sean Taylor

' 'An excellent book both from the illustrations, which fill every page with colour and humour, and the story, which is simple and silly but so very poignant in its message.' '

... A must for all bookshelves!'
