The Lovereading4Kids comment

August 2013 Guest Editor, Lauren St John "The ultimate wish fulfillment fantasy, later made into an award-winning film. Alec Ramsay is on a voyage home to New York after spending time with his uncle in India when his ship is wrecked by a storm. In the chaos, horse-mad Alex frees a panic-stricken Arabian stallion. Marooned on a desert island, the pair bond when they have to depend on one another to survive. Their troubles start when they are rescued. Back in America, the Black’s wildness proves difficult to contain. Could racing him be the answer? I’ve read this book more times than I can count and it never loses it’s magic. The film is great too."
