The Lovereading4Kids comment

One of our Books of the Year 2013 of 2013 & September 2013 Book of the Month Prize-winning author Peter Bently tells a rollickingly good story in this saga of a shopping trip with a difference. Simon the squirrel is sent down to the shops by his mother to get a few things - including cheese. But when Simon decides that the moon would provide the best cheese he takes off on a bold trip to go shopping on the moon! Ebullient rhyming couplets capture the roller-coaster shopping trip with a difference.

Synopsis

Great Balloon Hullaballoo by Peter Bently

When Simon the squirrel's mum sends him off to the shop, Simon decides to fly to the moon in Old Uncle Somerset's hot air balloon in search of cheese. Shopping in outer space is very exciting, but proves to be a bit of a distraction...

Another rip-roaring romp from the creators of The Great Dog Bottom Swap, written by Roald Dahl Funny Prize Winner, Peter Bently. A funny read-aloud story in rhyming text, with colourful and lively illustrations.

Reviews

An entertaining romp through the galaxy, this offbeat, funny and unexpected picture book will delight young readers Booktrust, 'Books We Like'

Matsuoka’s distinctive style of illustration perfectly complements Bently’s wicked humour.’
