The Lovereading4Kids comment

This best-selling, classic story of three baby owls waiting anxiously through the night for their mother to return is given some delightful pop-ups to add to its charms. The original story and illustrations remain unchanged but now, scarily, the owl flies out of the page and, delightfully, the baby owls also pop-up in flight.

Owl Babies - Pop-Up by Martin Waddell

This is a beautiful pop-up edition of the classic picture book. Three baby owls, Sarah, Percy and Bill, wake up one night to find that their mother has gone. So they sit on a branch and watch and wait for their mother to return...Clever pop-ups bring this bestselling picture book to life - the owl babies slowly close their eyes and fall asleep, their mother swoops gracefully through the forest, and Sarah, Percy and Bill bounce up and down with joy when their mother comes home. It is the perfect gift.

Touchingly beautiful ... Drawn with exquisite delicacy ... The perfect picture book. The Guardian Waddell's stories treat the fears of the very small with wit and sensitivity ... Benson's pictures are outstanding. The Independent on Sunday Stories about home-alone baby animals don't come more appealing than this. Daily Mail A beautiful pop-up edition of a classic picture book. Lytham St Annes Express

About the Author

Martin Waddell

As a child

I've been blown up, buried alive and had cancer as an adult, and survived all these experiences, so I'm a very lucky man. I live where I lived as a child, and nearly all my stories come from things that have happened to me here, at the foot of the Mountain of Mourne.

As an artist
I work in an old stone barn beside my home, and dream my stories in the garden and on long walks on the beach in front of my house. I never write anywhere else. This is where I belong.

Things you didn't know about Martin Waddell

I can wiggle my ears. I am a very noisy tennis player. I had a cat that could open doors. My dog hears my stories before I write them. I scored a hat trick on my debut in adult football, but wound up as a goalkeeper. I used to run a junk stall. I like bringing up egg-shaped stones from the beach to my garden. I like apple tarts. I hate onions. I’m a happy man
