Synopsis

Captain Duck by Jez Alborough

New cover reissue in million copy best-selling Duck in the Truck series. 'Ahoy there, sailors!' comes a cry. 'Is this a boating trip I spy?' If there are seas to be explored, make way...CAPTAIN DUCK'S ON BOARD! As usual with Duck, things get terribly out of hand when he takes the long-suffering Frog and Sheep on a trip out to sea in Goat's boat! But although Duck likes to think of himself as an expert sailor he soon runs into problems and the friends have to spend a long, cold night out on the rolling waves.

Reviews

'With a nod to Dr. Seuss and a wink to John Burningham, Jez Alborough deals an irresistible lesson in rhyme and rhythm as well as storytelling, which is hugely entertaining.'

'Rhyme, illustration, wit and inventiveness combine to produce outstanding quality.'

'Alborough's text is perfect for reading out loud and the mix of close-up and panoramic illustrations give an animated, live-action feel.'

'Colourful, arresting and busting with action.'

'A really great story; the best Duck book so far.'

About the Author

Jez Alborough

Jez Alborough was born in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey in 1959. As a young boy he was always very creative but it was not until a guest bought him a box of crisp white paper, some pencils and a rubber that he expressed his creativity in drawing. As Jez says "It was an act of support and encouragement which I have never forgotten. The identity of this guest remains to this day a mystery. I like to think he was my guardian angel."

Jez is very much in demand for storytelling events for children, as well as speaking about his work to librarians and teachers.

He lives in London with his wife and enjoys playing the guitar and walking along the river.
