This simple non-fiction book introduces and explores the circles, squares, rectangles, triangles, stars and hexagons which can be found in everyday objects. Each labelled shape is accompanied by a photograph showing the shape in an environmental context, for example a rectangular brick in a wall or a hexagon in a honeycomb. * Pink A/Band 1A books offer emergent readers very simple text supported by illustrations. * Text type - A simple non-fiction book. * All six shapes and photographs of where they are found are repeated on pages 14 and 15 to consolidate understanding of the book.

About the Author

Internationally-renowned children's author, Monica Hughes was a master of science fiction and fantasy writing. She was the recipient of numerous awards and was the author of The Isis Trilogy and A Handful of Seeds. She has written a number of titles for the Collins Big Cat series. Adrian Bradbury was born in Manchester and worked as a PE teacher before moving overseas to teach English in Europe, the Middle East and Far East. After returning to England he worked as Deputy Head in three schools and now divides his time between teaching and writing. As well as writing educational materials for HarperCollins and other publishers, he also writes humorous football books for children. His hobbies include playing the piano and all sports.
