Synopsis

Betty's Not Well Today by Gus Clarke

This is a practical manual for those wishing to use decorative finishes on their furniture, walls and floors. It offers step-by-step instructions and photographs on how to sand, fill, seal, paint, wet-sand, isolate, antique and varnish all kinds of surfaces from wood, glass, ceramic to metal, plastic and leather. There are chapters on gilding, more complex finishes such as marble, Japanese lacquer, wall-glazing, crackle finish, shagreen, trompe l'oeil, as well as stencilling and painting techniques including stippling, dragging, chamois, sponging, distressing and ageing with wax and pigment. It is illustrated throughout with full-colour photographs of before and after, many showing readily obtained pieces metamorphozed with simple finishes.

It gives me a chance to read types of books that I would not normally try, and it motivates me to read every night to finish it!

I am so pleased to have signed my kids up as they are reading a much wider range of books and even choosing books out of their comfort zone.

Angela East

LoveReading4Kids is a modern and creative way of emphasising the value and importance of books in this digital age #booksforlife

Amrit Bunet – Teen

Lovereading is just a convenient way to find new books and hear others opinions on them.

Sarah Murray – age 15

You give me age appropriate ideas of books I can read and buy for the children and find out what other children their age think of them too.

Katie Lonsdale

I love finding new books to read. My mummy and me look at the new ones coming out. I have written reviews of some of them!
