Katie Morag of Course! by Mairi Hedderwick

Those who have loved the Katie Morag picture books will be delighted to see that Struay's endearing heroine is back in this collection of three illustrated stories for older children - ideal for building reading confidence. In Saturday Sweets Katie Morag and Liam can't decide which sweets to give Granny Island as a present but they do decide that the best way to make up their minds is to taste all the sweets themselves. In The Pony and the Hamster Katie Morag is thrilled when Granny Island gets a pony called Eriska, but Katie and her friend Agnes soon find out that looking after a pet is a big responsibility. And in The Camping Holiday Katie Morag and the Big Boy Cousins find themselves stranded by the tide but luckily Eriska is on hand to save the day.

About the Author

Mairi Hedderwick
Mairi Hedderwick was born in Gourock, Scotland. At seventeen she took a job as a mother’s help on the Isle of Coll in the Hebrides, beginning a life-long love affair with islands and their small communities. Her children were brought up there and now some of her grandchildren. From being Grannie Island she has now moved on to being Granma Mainland, but her heart is always on the island. Mairi’s island world is delightfully reflected in the imaginary island of Struay where Katie Morag and her family live. As well as creating children’s books Mairi writes and illustrates travel books for adults. She spends a lot of time visiting schools and is always accompanied by Katie Morag’s teddy, which travels with her in a black bag.
