Synopsis

Oxford Student's Thesaurus by Oxford Dictionaries

This is the new look contemporary Oxford Student's Thesaurus to accompany the Oxford Student's Dictionary. Each entry is in alphabetical order, with its word class and a broad range of imaginative synonyms with supporting example sentences to help to advance writing skills. Tinted panels give additional support with alternatives for words that are often overused, e.g. good or nice. A number of topic panels further focus on subject-related vocabulary for extra help with exam topics, e.g. places of worship, communication, entertainment, or government. It is powered by the Oxford Children's Corpus, a unique electronic database of millions of words written for children. The page design is clear and straightforward, making this a handy reference tool for use at home and at school. In addition, for free downloadable learning resources, word games, puzzles and much more, go online to the www.oxforddictionaries.com/schools website.

Reviews

Can't live without it. My 9 year old loves to find obscure wow adjectives and adverbs for his essays. 5* Amazon reviewer This book is excellent to compliment my studies, and also proves quite useful for anyone wanting some clues as to how to tackle a crossword. I moved and lost my last thesaurus book so was glad to of replaced it with this one at last. Being a student, it is wise to have a good sense of diverse use of our English Language. 5* Amazon reviewer
