Synopsis

Read Write Inc. Phonics: Get Writing!: Red Ditty Books 6-10 Pack of 50 by Ruth Miskin

The Get Writing! Red Ditty Books are followed by seven levels of Get Writing! Books. The writing activities build on the reading activities that children have completed, helping them to develop ideas and vocabulary for writing. In the Get Writing! Red Ditty Books, children complete structured, engaging writing activities which are closely linked to their reading. For each of the three Ditties in the linked reading book there are 'Handwriting review', 'Complete a sentence', 'Hold a sentence' and 'Fred Fingers' (spelling review) activities. These provide a guided introduction to writing words and whole sentences and reinforce children's knowledge of Speed Sounds Set 1. There are also reward star pages for children to celebrate their progress. Teaching notes are provided on pages 2 and 3 of the books.

Reviews

Read Write Inc. actually teaches children to read and write. We love using this programme because children achieve so much so quickly. They want to read and write. It's the best literacy programme we have ever known. Lorna Jackson, Headteached, Maryland Primary School Channel 4 featured Ruth Miskin and the Read Write Inc. method being used in schools in a series of programmes broadcast in Autumn 2007 and Summer 2008. Read Write Inc. raised standards and turned struggling and non-readers into more confident and competent readers. Ruth Miskin Literacy trainers have trained over 2000 schools.
