Synopsis

Jonas Salk and the First Polio Vaccine by Anne Rooney

Miracle Makers is a wonderful new series of page-turning non-fiction where each title tells the true story of how a key scientific discovery was made. The narrative approach allows the author to focus on the personalities, their childhood and education, the ups and downs of their scientific research and the everyday details that help to make the big scientific discoveries accessible and engaging. The scientists' achievements and significance are explained simply and photographs and quotes bring the characters and landmarks to life.
