Synopsis

Step-by-step to Reading Blends and Long Vowel Sounds by June Mitchelmore

With its phonic base, this series has been designed for both adult and children learning to read. The features of each title are: the use of simple words that work by being sounded out; games and activities to make learning fun; the mastery over key words needed for literacy; a variety of methods for teaching of reading; and teaching notes to show how each page can best be used. The third book, Blends and Long Vowel Sounds , covers a range of topics from the blended sounds of consonants with short vowels, the adding of the silent e to make long vowel sounds, to sound-alike words in the writing of sentences. It also includes an assessment test which can be copied for use at home or in school.
