Plastic Exploring the Science of Everyday Materials by Nicola Edwards, Jane Harris

Plastic Exploring the Science of Everyday Materials by Nicola Edwards, Jane Harris

A study of the properties and uses of plastic, for children between the ages of five and seven. It features colour photographs of children involved in activities to make them more accessible. The content supports schemes of work for science at Key Stage 1, and there are pages of notes for parents and teachers with information about scientific principles. The volume is part of a series in which children are encouraged to ask questions about what different materials are like, formulate ideas about how a material might behave, and test out these ideas for themselves. There is an index of key words and ideas.

'... inspiring... child-friendly photographs and text provides lots of ideas for investigations.'

'These books are informative and appealing. They are useful both for introducing properties of materials and reinforcing ideas. They provoke discussion and the desire to investigate.'
