The book contains activities, games and pieces thatteach the fundamentals of playing the double bass : good posture (with andwithout the instrument), bow hold, finger position and pitch awarenessas well as developing rhythm and notation reading. The CD also aidspitch development with performances of the pieces and backing tracks tomotivate pupils to practise pieces and activities outside of theirlessons. The basics are constantly reinforced and revisited with thepupils building up to 'performance pieces' that combine and showcaseall of the skills they have developed.

About the Author

Chris Maybank is a double bass specialist and teacher. He currentlyteaches at Russell House School, Oxford, and The New Beacon School,Sevenoaks.Katie Wearing is a highly experienced teacher of the violin. Sheteaches violin pedagogy at the Royal Northern College of Music andviolin and viola at the Royal Northen's Junior Department.
