Essential English Skills Book 6 by Carol Matchett

Essential English Skills Book 6 by Carol Matchett

At the request of Key Stage 3 teachers, Schofield & Sims has rebranded two key series - English Skills and Mental Arithmetic - for use at Key Stage 3 and beyond. Perfect for recovery work and for building functional skills in English, Essential English gives each student intensive practice that is matched exactly to their ability level, supporting differentiation and personalised learning. The series enables students to succeed in skill areas where they have previously failed and widens written vocabulary, helping them to gain proficiency in other subjects, both academic and vocational. Essential English Skills 6 is an extension book for pupils who have successfully completed Essential English Skills 5. It enables them to fully employ, reinforce and build on the skills and knowledge already acquired and prepares them for highly effective use of functional skills in English. This book helps students learn to: write clear and unambiguous sentences, vary sentence structure for purpose and effect, use Standard English appropriately, explore subtle differences in punctuation, match language to purpose and context and use known words to understand new ones.
