It's Quacking Time! by Martin Waddell

This work talks about delightful ducklings, excitable eggs and a celebration of new life - just in time for Easter! When Mummy Duck lays an egg, everyone quacks with excitement. But Duckling has never seen an egg before. Could there really be a baby duck inside? And could it be that he started that way too? As the days pass, Duckling learns a lot about eggs and birth - and just what all the quacking's about! This work reunites the highly successful creators of The Pig in the Pond (highly commended for the Kate Greenaway Medal).

It's Quacking Time! is a familiar story made gloriously exuberant in both words and pictures. The Guardian

About the Author

Martin Waddell

As a child

I've been blown up, buried alive and had cancer as an adult, and survived all these experiences, so I'm a very lucky man. I live where I lived as a child, and nearly all my stories come from things that have happened to me here, at the foot of the Mountain of Mourne.

As an artist
I work in an old stone barn beside my home, and dream my stories in the garden and on long walks on the beach in front of my house. I never write anywhere else. This is where I belong.

Things you didn't know about Martin Waddell

I can wiggle my ears. I am a very noisy tennis player. I had a cat that could open doors. My dog hears my stories before I write them. I scored a hat trick on my debut in adult football, but wound up as a goalkeeper. I used to run a junk stall. I like bringing up egg-shaped stones from the beach to my garden. I like apple tarts. I hate onions. I’m a happy man
