Samurai by Louie Stowell

Synopsis

Samurai by Louie Stowell

This is a new title in Young Reading Series Three , which is aimed at children whose reading ability and confidence allows them to tackle longer and more complex stories. The book tells the story of the Samurai, the great warriors of Japan, and how they shaped the country's history. It reveals the truth behind Samurai training, culture and society, as well as thrilling details of Samurai battles, warlords and leaders, before their decline in the early 19th Century and how their spirit endured in the kamikaze warriors of World War Two. It is developed in consultation with Alison Kelly, who is a senior lecturer in education and an early reading specialist from Roehampton University.

About the Author

Louie Stowell

Louie Stowell is a children’s writer. She writes non-fiction about space, spaceships, history and other true things. She also writes retellings of myths about tricksters and other shadowy figures and stories about pirates and vampires. Louie’s also written a book about how to write books and comics about how to make comics. She draws comics about gods and politicians (not together) and runs workshops and loves science fiction and real science more or less equally, although she remains disappointed about science’s failure to (so far) create flying cars.
