Reviews

NSTA RecommendsIt's a picture book with high-interest narration. . . . [In] this highly graphic, well-written text, the reader learns about more than 150 fiendish friends in the animal kingdom. On every page, the focus is on details. . . and Kingfisher knows what children want. They want to be in awe, to be face-to-face with something beautiful (or downright ugly), to learn fascinating facts, and to examine detail that is difficult even for researchers to see in the wild. . . . Definitely pick up Attack and Defense . Students will be waiting in line to read this one. SanFrancisco Book ReviewThis is a great collection of creepy-crawlies. The book is definitely not boring, with a variety of techniques showing how they various weapons and defenses work. There is not only a basic narrative throughout, but small factoids pop up every so often, making for some great reading. . . .For those who like to see nature at its deadliest and scariest, this is a fantastic book.
